THE ROYAL Northern and Clyde Yacht Club was delighted to have a special Royal visitor during the Blind Match Racing World Championship. HRH The Princess Royal was welcomed by commodore David Whitham at Rhu Marina before heading out on David’s boat to watch the racing off Helensburgh, writes Penny French.

David Whitham said, ‘We were delighted that HRH the Princess Royal, who is a keen sailor and great supporter of the club, was able to join us for a few hours. The Princess Royal enjoyed lunch on deck while we motored out to watch some of the racing.’

Once ashore the Princess chatted with the teams and their helpers in the marina’s marquee before being presented with a burgee from the Blind Sailing International Association.
