IN NOVEMBER the 30th edition of the annual Marine Equipment Trade Show (METS), held in Amsterdam, showcased a vast range of new products soon to appear in local chandlers for the 2018 sailing season.

Before highlighting the latest kit that caught Yachting Life’s eye, it is worth recording the comments made by the event’s keynote speaker, Brunswick Corporation CEO Mark Schwabero whose theme was based on the need for companies to evolve continually to meet changing market opportunities.

He provided a brief glimpse into how Brunswick had evolved over its 172 year history, from making billiard tables, to being the world’s largest record recording company with Al Jolson on its board, to the $4.5bn company it is today, with 80% earnings in marine and 20% in the fitness market.
