WEST Highland Yachting Week takes place from 26 July to 2 August 2019 with Tunnock’s as front line sponsors once again, writes Alison Chadwick.

Boyd Tunnock CBE, grandson of the founder Thomas Tunnock who heads up the renowned teacake and biscuit confectioners has been a regular and successful WHYW competitor in his Moody 38 Lemarac. He said: ‘Tunnock’s is delighted to be involved with this famous regatta once again. We have been supporting the event for over a decade now and feel it’s a good partnership. The team on Lemarac enjoy the racing and the social scene and we’re looking forward to competing in 2019.’

Beppo Buchanan-Smith is once again chairman of the Joint Regatta Committee (JRC) that runs the regatta. 2019 marks the 72nd birthday of the event run under the auspices of the Royal Highland Yacht Club and Oban Sailing Club. For many sailors it’s the ‘must do’ regatta in the Scottish sailing calendar.

Beppo said: ‘After the success of WHYW in 2018 we will be launching the 2019 programme in January with a similar format but the return of the Round Lismore Race on the Tuesday and an increased social programme following the fleet form Craobh to Oban to Tobermory!’

As well as Tunnock’s as the headline sponsor, it is expected to receive support from last year’s list of sponsors.
