NORTH CLYDE boats have been successful at home and away this summer. The relentlessly popular Sigma 33 One Design is celebrating 40 years of action and the well raced Clyde boats have taken the top honours at three major events this year, writes Penny French.

The Alan Harper/Eric Robertson partnership and crew on Leaky Roof II were overall winners in the Sigma 33 class at this years Scottish Series and overall winners at the Class Championships in Dartmouth in June, with Mark Bradshaw in Busy Beaver third and Allan Lennox/Grant Simpson fourth in Miss Behavin. They were also overall winners of the Sigma 33 class at the Dun Laoghaire Regatta in July, with James Miller and his crew on Mayrise coming a close second and Busy Beaver third.

• The National Sonata Class made a welcome return to Helensburgh Sailing Club for their 2019 Class Championship. Racing took place over four days (20-23 June) on the East Patch just off Helensburgh Pier.
