SAIL Scotland will be hosting Scotland’s Marine Tourism Conference at The Beacon Arts Centre, Greenock on Wednesday 6 March, as part of the national Scottish Tourism Month Programme and sponsored by Inverclyde Council and Caledonian MacBrayne.

This annual full day event is aimed at the marine tourism sector; everyone with an interest, whether it’s the delivery, marketing or development.

This year the annual Sail Scotland conference will be focusing on how the leisure marine industry can realise the opportunities that lie ahead over the next two years as it prepares to celebrate Scotland’s Year of Coasts & Waters 2020.

The programme, will include input from Marie Christie, head of Year of Coasts & Waters 2020, VisitScotland, Marc Crothall, CEO, Scottish Tourism Alliance, Jeff Houlgrave, chairman, Superyacht UK and Daniel Steel, CEO, Sail Scotland.

• Late News: Legendary maritime adventurer and yachtsman, Jock Wishart, has signed up to speak at the Conference.

Jock’s reputation for developing successful teams and leading expeditionary projects to victory is virtually unrivalled. Within the space of 18 months, he rowed the Atlantic, led the crew which set new world speed records for powered circumnavigation, led the team that broke the London to Paris rowing record and is the only man to have walked unsupported to a Pole and rowed across an ocean.

And in 2018, he added further to these achievements, leading a Scots dominated team to win one of sailing’s most prestigious trophies, the Commodores’ Cup for which they received the 2018 RYA Scotland Performance of the Year award.
