WEST Highland Yachting Week takes place from 26 July to 2 August 2019 with Tunnock’s as front line sponsors and thanks to a discounted early booking scheme, entries were at their highest ever as YL went to press on 13 June.

Boyd Tunnock CBE, grandson of the founder Thomas Tunnock, who heads up the renowned teacake and biscuit confectioners based at Uddingston, has been a regular and successful WHYW competitor in his Moody 38 Lemarac. He said: ‘Tunnock’s is delighted to be involved with this famous regatta once again. We have been supporting the event for well over a decade now and feel it’s a good partnership. The team on Lemarac enjoy the racing and the social scene and we’re looking forward to competing in 2019.’

Beppo Buchanan-Smith is once again chairman of the Joint Regatta Committee (JRC) that runs the regatta. 2019 marks the 72nd birthday of the event run under the auspices of the Royal Highland Yacht Club and Oban Sailing Club. For many sailors, it’s the ‘must do’ regatta’ in the Scottish sailing calendar, writes Alison Chadwick.
