WHERE IS it written that Sunday racing shall only be in the afternoon?

Few clubs attempt Sunday morning racing, but might that be a popular slot for time poor sailors, allowing them to do other things in the afternoon? That was the question behind a radical revamp of the Largs Winter Series this year and coupled with landing a supportive new title sponsor, Harken, the scene was set afresh. How would the sailors like it?

The weather gods smiled on this new look Harken Largs Winter Series as it started on 28 October, writes Alan Henderson. Three races in sunshine and light winds got the series off to a great start and 23 boats joined in on the first day, with the bulk in Class 1.

The D Zeros dominated the results, taking all the podium positions in that class. Alistair McLaughlin from Prestwick took three wins, with Jon Bassett from Largs in second, followed by clubmate Billy McCarlie.
